So it’s not often that I watch music videos or feel the need to for that matter, but after watching two just now I feel like I want to say something.
The first video being Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball.” I have to say that the song is beautiful and I love it. But I’m not blogging today for the emotional response the music gave me. I’m blogging to talk about the strange video that went with it. While I like and don’t mind the outfit and don’t care that in the shots with the all white where you clearly do not have a top on, I do not understand the need to make out with the sledgehammer. It’s strange. I also do not understand why you are naked on the wrecking ball making out with it’s chain. Coming off of that, I have these thoughts and feelings that she’s going through a Lady Gaga phase. LG’s videos are always strange and I at least never understand how they relate to the music. Miley was out of the media for a while and now that she is doing all these things she’s back in. I think its for attention. “We Can’t Stop” is another example. The video was weird has all hell, but the song, while some of the lyrics I don’t agree with, is catchy. Then her performance at the VMAs. I’m just saying, I think it’s smart.
The second video I watched is Katy Perry’s “Roar.” Katy is someone who I am never really disappointed with her videos or her music. I love the song to begin with and the message it send. I also think that her video does the song justice. It has beautfiul shots and a wonderful story. I am also a big fan of how her videos always have a sense of magic to them. I don’t have too much to say for the video. I really enjoyed it on an emotional level as well as a visual level.
